Stage 2 flat Number 2, Stage 3 TT.

Today was a 2 stage day. Started off with a 95km road race and in the afternoon we had a 7km individual time trial. The road race today was good. I felt better than yesterday and I was able to ride with the main group and even try a few moves. At on point the pack split up and I was in the wrong split. Happily in the descent i was able to catch up.
Afterwards in one of the longer climbs i got up on my handlebar and noticed my front tire was soft... oh no! another flat. John and Kevin got up the caravan very fast and did a perfect wheel change. I got up the hill just behind the main group and again I made back in the descent. 2 more climbs left! I got over one very well, I had a good rhythm and good concentration. The last climb of the day it was mayhem! And inevitably I got dropped towards the top. I race down the other side but with the rain that had fallen it was very sketchy going through all the switchbacks. I finished a few minutes back. At this point I will try and do good at a few stages but I can forget a spot in the general classification!
In the afternoon, there was a 7 km TT in the capital of Fort de France. There was huge crowds! And the TT was very short. 7km. I did just ok. Mid pack.
Then we had to wait for the bus for 1h before we could drive back to Trois-Ilets, where are hotel is. SHOWER AND SUPPER PLEASE!

I found those little tree frogs. I wonder if there the ones who scream all night.

Now good night ! More updates and photos tomorow

Day 2 and 3

Hi
After our advenutre on thursday it started all over again on Friday. We got to the Washington-Dulles airport, and flew to Miami. There we started feeling the heat. We waited 5 hours to our next flight to Puerto Rico. Just as we were going to board our flight to Martinique we were evacuated from the airport, for a reason that no one knows. Anyways one hour latter we got there and there was no problem getting to our hotel.

Stage 1
2 km in the race I punctured. The change was very fast. I still need to spend lots of energy to get back, and when the climbs arrived it would have been nice to have a bit more juice left. I had to settle for the grupetto.

Here is a picture of our hut. We got three of them plus one for our bikes! Its very humid and it promises to be stinky by the end of the race.

We're at the equator and lots of animals live here, first theres tree frogs that scream so loud that you need to wear earplugs at night. Theres little crabs that make holes in the grass, they come out in the morning. And there are little iguanas wondering around on the huts.

Day 1 June 2nd

So day one of our adventure is over and thank god! Not that were not having fun but i've been up since 3 am. Tomorow I'm up again @ 3:30 am. Here's the whole story.

When we got to the air port the stewardess told us straight up : '' there's no way your bikes are going on the plane!'' After John worked his magic on her she accepted. Luckily our flight was delayed because we were late! First flight is fine! We arrive in washington and run to the next gate to catch our next plane. UhOH we missed it by 30 seconds. When we got to the gate they were closing it. So we were in for a lot of waiting around while Kevin and John worked on finding us a way to Martinique. One of the first scenario's was : Washington, Paris, Puerto rico. Wich would have been fun but very tiring. The final scenario is Washington 6am, Miami then puerto rico and finaly Martinique.

So tomorow promises to be another adventure, I will check back Saturday or maybe tomorow in miami!
Cheers
